In 1986, when the French Language Services Act was adopted, many, including the Premier of the day David Peterson, believed it was a first step towards official bilingualism for Ontario. But since then, there hasn’t been many changes to minority language rights in the province. The services that Francophones are guaranteed to received in their language according to the law are not always available.

Claudine Brulé asked Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Francophone Affairs Minister Marie-France Lalonde about their vision for the future of the French Language Services Act.
